One of the products that I have been investigating recently are the Vitamix range of blenders. I have not yet learned as much as I want to about these machines but they seem to offer a fantastic solution to the “problem” of getting very little fiber from juices. Instead of separating the liquid and the pulp like juicers do, a Vitamix blender is so powerful that it breaks down the solid fruit and vegetables that you want to drink into a puree. Depending upon how juicy your ingredients are, you may want to add some water to the mix. This means that with this sort of machine we can get all the vitamin and mineral goodness as well as the benefits from consuming the whole food.
The motor on these machines seems to be hugely powerful and I read that the inner blades spin at 240 miles per hour. It is no wonder that it is able to anhailate whatever it is faced with. I have been a fan of juicing for a long time and am shocked that I did not know of the Vitamix company until recently. I definitely want to investigate their products more fully.
It seems that it can act as the ultimate blender and food processor. The price is quite daunting however. These devices cost around about $500. The question of whether this is worth it for you can only really be answered by yourself. I would certainly not tell anyone they should buy this kitchen appliance. But I am looking forward to the day when I can get my hands on one. The thing is, I will have to save up for it. I do not enjoy things quite so much when I pay by credit card.
At the moment, the primary reason that I want a Vitamix blender is to get more benefit out of the fruits and vegetables that I am currently juicing. It will mean that I will be able to get better value for money. Instead of throwing away the pulp as I do at the moment, I think I will be able to use less fruit and vegetables in each juice/smoothie that I make but it will actually be a better way to feed myself. Instead of having a drink it will be more like having a meal. This is why I am so excited about the Vitamix blender. Watch this space for more detailed reviews as I learn more about this machine.
